Mineral Decking

Deckorators' mineral based decking provides a low-maintenance and long-lasting decking solution. Designed using mineral technology, it features a fibre-like structure similar to traditional timber decking.

The mineral composite material provides 34% more surface traction than traditional timber decking, making the boards’ strength-to-weight ratio the best on the market. Each plank has a fade and stain-resistant surface, is fire certified, and will not rot, crack, chalk, or sag. The mineral decking range comes with a 25-year warranty.

Deckorators mineral composite decking is 35% lighter than alternative wood-plastic composite decking options. It also features very low absorption rates – the boards have less that 0.05% absorption after soaking in water for 24 hours.

Mineral composite decking is class C fire retardant, meaning that it is effective against light fire exposure.

Our mineral composite decking boards should be stored in the area they that will be installed for at least 3 days before installation, so that the material can acclimatise.

We supply mineral decking boards in two stunning colours Sierra and Khaya - each of which is available in 140mm and 235mm panel widths, as well as fascia boards to cover the deck's under structure.

What is mineral composite decking made of?

Deckorators mineral-based composite decking is the world's strongest decking and one of the most stable solutions available. It is made up of a mix of innovative plastic polymers and long-lasting minerals that have been mixed and stretched (pull extruded). This method produces a fibre-like structure that is incredibly light and robust, with a strength-to-weight ratio equal to wood. Mold, rot, and insects are essentially non-existent on our mineral boards since they contain no wood fibres.

What are the benefits of mineral-based decking?

Strength-to-Weight Ratio

Deckorators’ mineral decking has an unmatched strength-to-weight ratio in the composite market. What does that mean? It means that each deck board and fascia trim is incredibly sturdy, with a high weight capacity that will not sag or bend over time, while still being extremely lightweight, making installation simple and less taxing on the back than heavier materials.

Traditional WPC boards are substantially heavier than the mineral-based ones, which are 36% lighter. PVC boards are also lightweight, but they are typically difficult to deal with and do not provide the same strength as mineral planks. Deckorators offer composite decking material that is simple to install with hidden fixings and will last for decades, making them the leader on the market.

Durability & Zero Thermal Expansion

Due to its unique composition and production processes, mineral-based decking provides exceptional stability. In addition to having virtually no thermal contraction or expansion - a major cause of splits and fractures - these boards have less than 0.05 percent absorption after soaking in water for 24 hours. Moreover, they are backed by a 25-year warranty. Because mineral planks are so sturdy, they may be used in ground or water contact applications.

Maintenance

The mineral-based composites require minimal maintenance – an occasional sweep is all you need. Furthermore, the boards are also:

  • Easy to install
  • Anti-rot and cracking surface
  • Stain- and fade-resistant cap stock
  • Insects-resistant
  • Suitable for use as residential cladding
  • Suitable for use in ground or water installations
  • Eco-friendly
  • Class C fire retardant

Can mineral-based composites be used as planters?

Due to its non-moisture-absorbing qualities, mineral decking can be used as planters.

Does composite decking expand or contract with heat?

One of the main reasons for expansion and contraction is humidity. Mineral decking boards boast a no thermal expansion feature and are ideal for use near water as they have textured embossing for a better grip.

Does mineral composite decking fade?

Our mineral-based composites feature a stain- and fade-resistant cap, so you can rest assured that the colour won’t fade. It’s also supplied with 50-year structural, 25-year stain & fade, and 25-year removal & replacement warranties.
